Sea to Sky & Sunshine Coast
A farming valley beyond Whistler, famous for its seed potatoes.
The Area
Pemberton sits in a wide agricultural valley just north of Whistler, a working farming community best known nationally for its seed potato industry and its dramatic backdrop of Mount Currie.
The Pemberton Valley's isolation and soil have made it one of Canada's premier seed potato growing regions, supplying disease-free seed stock to farms across the country, and the valley's farms increasingly host a growing local food and agritourism scene alongside the traditional crops.
Mount Currie rises dramatically at the valley's east end, and Lil'wat Nation traditional territory surrounds much of the community, with the Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre in nearby Whistler telling much of that shared history.
Highway 99 continues north from Pemberton toward the scenic Duffey Lake Road and Lillooet, and while the town remains a genuine working agricultural community rather than a resort, its proximity to Whistler has steadily drawn buyers seeking more space and lower prices without leaving the corridor.
