Milton

Milton sits directly below the Niagara Escarpment northwest of Oakville and has been among the fastest growing municipalities in Canada for two decades, expanding from a small town into a full sized suburb.

The old downtown along Main Street survives as a compact heritage core with the Mill Pond just off it, while the great majority of the housing stock is new: the neighbourhoods west and south of the core were largely built after 2000 and are dominated by detached homes and townhouses on a planned grid.

The Escarpment is the defining natural feature. Kelso and Rattlesnake Point conservation areas sit minutes from town with swimming, mountain biking and climbing, and the Bruce Trail runs along the ridge above the town.

Milton has a GO station on the Milton line and quick access to Highways 401 and 407, and a Wilfrid Laurier and Conestoga education campus has been developed in town. Housing is newer and generally cheaper than Oakville or Burlington, which is the main draw for young families.
