Oshawa

Oshawa anchors Durham Region at the eastern edge of the Greater Toronto Area, built around General Motors and now increasingly shaped by Ontario Tech University and Durham College.

Downtown centres on King and Simcoe with the Tribute Communities Centre and the courthouse, and the Oshawa Valley Botanical Gardens follow the creek north of it. The Canadian Automotive Museum and Parkwood Estate, the McLaughlin family mansion and grounds, both sit near the core.

North Oshawa has grown quickly around the Ontario Tech and Durham College campuses, adding student rental demand and newer subdivisions. Older established neighbourhoods sit south and east of downtown, and the lakefront at Lakeview Park has beach and marina access that many buyers do not expect.

The Lakeshore East GO line terminates here with service to Union Station, and Highway 401 and the 407 extension both serve the city. Oshawa remains one of the least expensive entry points into the GTA housing market.
